Sausage Spinach Rolls

Return to Spinach Recipes Index

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 pound loaf frozen bread dough
  • 2 pounds Italian sausage, bulk style, mild or hot
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 (10 oz. each) packages frozen chopped spinach
  • 4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Method:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Thaw dough and cut in half. Thaw and drain spinach and squeeze out excess water. In a large skillet, lightly brown sausage with garlic, stirring with a fork to keep the crumbles small. When fully cooked and no longer pink, drain fat off. Add the spinach and cheese, stir and set aside.

Roll the bread dough into 2 separate rectangles about 1/4-1/2 inch thick. Divide filling and spread on top of each. Roll up like a jelly roll, tucking in the ends. Let raise on a greased cookie sheet for about 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20-25 minutes or until brown. Slice and enjoy your Sausage Spinach Rolls!
